In 2026, Route 66 will be 100 years old. Across the eight Route 66 states, there are cities, organizations, businesses, attractions, non-profits, and individuals planning activities to celebrate, commemorate, and honor the Route 66 Centennial.
The Route 66 Centennial Certification program officially recognizes these efforts, aligning them with the National Route 66 Centennial celebration.
State Centennial Commissions, Coordinating Groups, and Route 66 stakeholders are encouraged to apply for Route 66 Centennial Certification for their Centennial activities — which include events, projects, and programs.
The Route 66 Road Ahead Partnership has established a Certification Review Group that grants Route 66 Centennial Certification status and includes representation from across the eight Route 66 states.
